It's almost time.
The Just Not Famous Enough Awards show is set for next month, so now is the time to get your tickets. mixer will be there filming as we watch local bands Irvine and Parmalee (hopefully) take home the prize in their categories.
The JNFE Awards show, sponsored by Yes! Weekly, begins around 8:40 p.m. April 3 at the Greene Street Club in Greensboro. Red carpet arrivals will begin around 7 p.m. with opening band Silver Judas playing on the roof. The public entrance opens at 7:45 p.m. and Irvine will perform around 10:15 p.m. The after party will begin in the club immediately following the ceremony.
Celebrity presenters include “American Idol” finalist Trenyce Cobbins, Amadeus from Bad Boy Entertainment, Popular MySpace Artist Rebbeca Corriea, Johnny Patterson, Senior Vice President of Russell Simmons Music Group, Radio Host Lisa Dames, Connie Green from “The Avenue” talk show in Philadelphia and Matt Williams of Transworld Entertainment (FYE).
Irvine was originally nominated for Best North Carolina Grunge Band but are now up for Best North Carolina Alternative Artist. Parmalee was more recently added to the polls in the Best North Carolina Rock Group category.
“We might've overlooked Parmalee,” said JNFE Chief Executive Officer Aulando Frazier. “We added them because of show dates and momentum.”
Other bands have been removed from the polling for several different reasons, like if they weren't really from North Carolina or showed no interest in the competition.
‘This thing is like the lottery in that you have to be in it to win it,” Frazier said. “Those who feel they are too big for it, that's fine.”
Regular ticket prices range from $20-$28 and are available through JFNE.com.
