The night began on a blustery, windy red carpet, but the musicians still showed up in style.
Limousines slowly crawled toward a flock of photo journalists and the entrance to the Greene Street Club in Greensboro Friday evening carrying bands and solo artists from across the state who came to perform and — if they were lucky — take home an award.
After months of anticipation, Greenville band Irvine was among this group of the chosen for the JNFE::NC (Just Not Famous Enough: North Carolina) Awards Show. They competed for Best Alternative Artist and performed "Tight Rope" during the ceremony. Parmalee, the recently signed band also based in Greenville, had a conflicting gig in Murfreesboro.
But mixer tagged along to catch the show — like we do — and to support our local musicians and check out some new acts we hope to hear a lot more of soon.
And while we were disappointed to see Parmalee, Irvine, and Udon Cheek (who wrote "Purple & Gold" with the Marching Pirates) didn't take home any awards, everyone who came out put on amazing performances, and we're proud of our Pitt County boys.
