Lawrence Albion Stox, known as Al to friends, was born in 1920 and raised on a large family farm spanning across what is now Firetower Road.

The pig above was found Wednesday in the City Market parking lot near downtown Greenville. It's shown here later at a wildlife rehab center in Grifton.

American Legion AuxiliaryUnit 39 recently presented a $1,000 check to Barbara Whitehead, branch director of Give2TheTroops, to help the organization mail Christmas packages to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
