Characterized as “explosively intoxicating,” Greensboro-based Holy Ghost Tent Revival is playing at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Tipsy Teapot, 409 S. Evans St. Tickets are $5.

It's not easy to categorize the six-piece ensemble, consisting of the banjo, guitar, bass, drums, and keys.

“The songs, ... are actually tightly crafted pop gems with timeless melodies, great harmonies, and subject matter that more often than not circles around the craziness of love, all delivered with an immediate and organic rush of joy,” AllMusic.com wrote of the band.

Their studio albums “So Long I Screamed” and “Family” have been released to critical acclaim. The live album “Northbound at Southpaw” is their latest release.

The band consists of Stephen Murray (banjo and guitar), Matt Martin (guitar and banjo), Hank Widmer (trombone and euphonium), Patrick Leslie (bass), Ross Montsinger (drums) and Kevin Williams (keys).
