The East Carolina football team’s offense had its wings temporarily clipped by Virginia Tech last Saturday afternoon, a rare 60 minutes in which the Pirates defended remarkably well but could not score when it needed to.
Seemingly everything in the fine print of the offense masterminded by coordinator Lincoln Riley and funneled through senior quarterback Dominique Davis was slightly off the mark, from Davis’ third down misreads to his uncharacteristic five sacks.
The Pirates were only one part of the problem, though, as the Hokies defended masterfully, clearly executing a strong gameplan to thwart ECU’s strengths.
