West Greenville neighborhoods were visited Saturday by more than 300 people of faith from other areas of the city and Pitt County who wanted residents to know they are not alone in their struggles against persistent crime and gang violence.
A recent crime spree that produced seven shootings in a nine-day period led Police Chief William Anderson to declare Monday that a small gang war had erupted in west Greenville.
The “stroll through the neighborhood” was coordinated by several area churches and outreach ministries led by Covenant Church outreach director Walter Strathy.

Yawn
Wow! Soundes great! Uh, and where have these 'groups' been the last 10 years? Ahh..now that 'Gangs' have taken hold in Greenville they come out. Hmmm. what is the real reason? Anyway, you want to all stop crime? Do not worry about praying and let the police become more aggressive within the law ( and no, this is not going to happen with Chief Anderson who wants to be politically correct to the city coucil and tying the hands of his officers). Citizens need to come together with the police and REPORT suspicious ativity and n ot just watch it go by and hope that the next person reports it..
