The Palin-McCain campaign has not announced yet exactly when GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Pailin will speak in Greenville tonight.
But that did not seem to stop people from standing in line on Monday to get tickets for Palin's visit to East Carolina Univeresity's Minges Colesium.
Doors open for the campaign stop at 4 p.m. and a capacity crowd is expected. Communication from the the McCain-Palin campain this morning indicated she would appear after 6 p.m.
A line of people hoping to see Palin stretched across a parking lot outside the local GOP office on Monday and into Commerce Street.
The line formed just after noon, with people hoping the latest wave of free tickets wouldn't run out before they reached the building. Each person was allowed two tickets.
A N.C. spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign said the Pitt County GOP office received between 200-300 tickets Monday, and he was unsure whether another wave of tickets would be available before her speech tonight.
Greenville's office originally was allotted 2,300 of the approximately 8,000 tickets available statewide, and ran through that allotment quickly on Friday.
After the initial run, campaign officials took remaining tickets from other cities and shipped them all to Greenville, the spokesman said.
The line ran out before the tickets did Monday. There were about 25 remaining when the bulk of volunteers headed back inside, and that number dwindled to a dozen within 10 minutes. Those volunteers were busy into the evening, too, painting signs at Williams Arena.
Organizers are expecting a capacity crowd, the spokesman said. Doors open at 4 p.m., and overflow will be invited to watch the event, most likely, at the Greenville Convention Center, he said.
Palin will give no interviews to press, and is scheduled to speak shortly after doors close at 6 p.m.
Parking for the event will be available primarily outside Minges Coliseum, according to East Carolina University's parking services. Usually reserved for students and faculty with permits, the lot will open to the public at noon. Calls inquiring about changes traffic patterns or road closings were not returned.
The U.S. Secret Service is providing security for the event. No bags or signs will be permitted.
Following the rally, those attending are invited to stay and watch the second presidential debate tonight, campaign officials said.
That debate is to get under way at9 p.m.

Why care about experience??? Look at George W. Bush in his running of the country? Our economy is in the tank, Iraq has Weapons of Mass Destuction, then after we invaded...oh, we could not find any, but it was the right thing to do. Yowzer, I'd rather have Gomer Pile be our President, then have McCain in office. No more of the same!

Why care about experience? We have George W Bush for our President! I'd rather have Niles Crane run our country, then Bush or McCain! Both of them think the same. No more of the same! It is time that we stop the trend of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Wait, I think when the economy tanks will be the day it happens.

It will not matter if Obama wins the Presidency. What will he be able to accomplish? Do you think he will be able to restrict how much Big Oil can profit? He can not even give a timeline to how soon the troops will come home from Iraq if he gets into office. He will not stop the outsourcing of American jobs. Where is his Alternate Energy Plan? He might even sign off to drill in Alaska.

Palin has run a family and a small state for a short period, but she's got little education, little intellect, and little awareness of the world. Running the country is not like running a car wash! We need someone with intellect and depth, someone who understands complexity. That's Barak.

I can say this much..when I go to hire someone for a job, I find out how much experience they have doing the same or similar kind of work. How long have they done it and at what levels? What were their accomplishements and what were their development needs? Governor Palin has experience running a town and running a state, not to mention a houshold and a family. All of which are just microcosms of a country. She has more experience than most previously elected presidients!

The reason Obama is referred to as the "Messiah" or "the chosen one" is because the liberal media doesn't hold Obama accountable for anything. For example, the liberal media always talks about Palin's inexperience to be vice president but never Obama's inexperience to be president. At least Sarah Palin has been governor of a state and mayor of a city.

WLS--the only ones calling Barak 'the chosen One' are those who are stupid enough to try to link him to the anti-Christ. Have you not seen those chain emails? Those of supporting Barak are under no illusions as to what he can or cannot do once in office. Nevertheless, he represents a sharp turn away from our current path and therefore must win. And he will.

CJ-my point was not that social security and military healthcare are model programs. They have problems, yes. My point was that people who run around like chicken littles screaming the sky is falling when they hear the word socialist are ignorant. America already has such programs. And it's moot, because Obama isn't proposing to socialize anything.

You anti-health care people: Just because you apparently have decent enough health care that pays the majority of your care and doesn't try to drop you or deny claims for illness, you assume others could have the same. Most people going broke paying medical expenses HAVE medical care, but either the coverage is insufficient, they're dropped, etc. You may not care about others' health and that's fine, just DON't CALL IS CHRISTIAN!

My problem with the McCain / Palin ticket is that they have not addressed the issues and problems that our country face. They continue to much of the same low-ball politics in attacking Obama and proclaim to be mavericks; however, neither McCain or Palin have discussed their plan to fix the country. Haven't the Republicans had the power for the past 8 years? So McCain and Palin want to change the rule of their own party?
