Brother, sister shot, seriously wounded

The Daily Reflector

Saturday, November 07, 2009

Greenville police responded to a report that two people, a brother and sister, were shot and seriously wounded at 11:40 p.m. Friday in the Hopkins Park neighborhood.

Shawanda Pittman, 24, and Travis Jermaine Pittman, 20, both of 1811-B Hopkins Drive were shot in front of their home following an altercation with some other people, area police commander Lt. Richard Allsbrook said in a Saturday news release.

Both victims were transported by Greenville Fire-Rescue personnel to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Officers with the police Major Crimes Unit and forensics specialists are continuing the investigation, Allsbrook said.

No information about the suspected shooters or their relationship to the Pittmans was released.

It's like the ref says at the start of a boxing match: "Protect yourself at all times." My wife wanted to go to the grocery store one night last week at 9:00 p.m. I told her she was crazy and we would go at first light. The big 'possum walks just before daylight and it's normally safer to go shopping just after daybreak. Just a few drunks hanging around and the old people scrambling to get their shopping done before the city awakens. Good luck.

If these jackasses could shoot there would be less attempted murder charges. Can't hold their pants up with one hand and shoot straight with the other. Their kind is dumb in the classroom as well in the street.

Someone probably looked the wrong way at someone to start the whole thing - all this getting mad over "disrespecting" is such utter nonsense. People with the brains of 5-year olds carrying guns.

I heard someone say recently that we are living in a lawless country. I have to agree.

if you dont know what went on there is no need to leave dumb comments. find out the facts before trying to comment. him been in a gang has nothing to do with it, and drug money so like black people to say when someone gets shot.

Sounds like someone owed someone else drug money. Mmm hmm. Fortunately the brother and sister survived the aweful shooting. There's no reason for this kind of violence. Black on Black crime seems to be on the rise. Just not safe anymore, on the streets of Greenville.
