BETHEL — As soon as the jailor arrived, Tyler Hassell knew he'd end up in shackles.
“Honestly, as soon as he came in I figured it was going to happen,” said the deputy, a school resource officer at Wellcome Middle School and counselor at the Pitt County Sheriff's Office first-ever free S.U.M.M.E.R camp for kids.
To the delight of his squealing campers, who chanted “you deserve it, you deserve it,” Hassell indulged them during a presentation on the Pitt County Detention Center by attempting to run in full restraints.
