Chair exhibit building cancer awareness

Pitt County Memorial Hospital is hosting the interactive Button Chair exhibit through Friday.

The innovative art display is designed to increase awareness of breast cancer in hopes of saving lives. A project of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) Foundation, the chair can be viewed in the hospital’s front lobby as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Button Chair was created in 1998 as a tribute to all women in North Carolina — as well as their families, friends and support networks — who have battled breast cancer. Every button represents a unique story of courage and strength, each having belonged to a breast cancer survivor or someone who lost their battle with the disease.
