Winterville fire departments plan for split

The town of Winterville town fire department continues to plan for this summer’s split with the Winterville Rural Fire Department.

The two departments shared a station and equipment in town until the association decided this winter to form a new rural fire department and build a station outside of town.

Pitt County Commissioners Kenneth Ross and Melvin McLawhorn attended the 2010 National Association of Counties legislative conference in Washington this month.
