A gun rights groups is targeting Greenville and several other North Carolina cities for possible legal action to allow concealed weapons in public parks.
Grass Roots North Carolina, an advocacy group founded in 1994, posted a report on its website, grnc.org, criticizing the Greenville City Council’s Nov. 14 decision to maintain a ban on concealed weapons at recreational facilities while rewriting its rules to now allow them in parks.
“They don’t have to ban any firearm in any facility, we are encouraging them to not ban them in any parks,” said Paul Valone, president of Grass Roots North Carolina. “Concerned gun carriers have the right to protect their families everywhere.”
