Pops group seeks more singers

Those interested in joining the Community Pops Singers to perform Christmas concerts can practice with the group at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays in the Cypress Glen auditorium. Concerts are planned for Dec. 17 at Cypress Glen and Dec. 18 at First Presbyterian Church. For more information, call Don Fitts at 758-2571.

Staton House to hold Turkey shoot fundraiser

The Staton House Fire Department will hold a turkey shoot fundraiser at 7 p.m. each Saturday in November at N.C. 11 and Futrell-Robson Road. Turkey, rib-eye and money rounds will be offered in addition to the light-box shot. Concessions will be available. For more information, call 752-3879.

Rally on Monday to encourage voting

A Get Out the Vote Rally will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Sycamore Chapel (old Phillipi Church), 1607 Farmville Blvd. The event will include speakers, dancers and choirs to encourage voting. For more information, call 347-3234.

Unity to hold ‘Love for Lydia' benefit

Unity Free Will Baptist Church on 14th Street Extension will hold a “Love for Lydia Relief Fund” event from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenville Mall to benefit Lydia Byrd, a 5-year-old with an inoperable brain tumor. The church's choir will sing, and T-shirts and bracelets will be available for purchase. Chick-fil-A and Wacky Bear will donate a portion of their proceeds during event hours to the Byrd family.

Event to celebrate adoption

Adoption will be celebrated from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wendy's Restaurant, 604 S.W. Greenville Blvd., in observance of November as National Adoption Awareness Month. The event will include local adoption agency staff and testimonials from families affected by adoption. It is sponsored by the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, Pitt County Department of Social Services and Carried in My Heart Enterprises. Mills family reunion scheduled for Sunday

The family of J. Harvey and Ida Haddock Mills will meet for its annual Mills Family reunion Sunday at Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church. The worship service begins at 10:55 a.m., followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. in the Cherry Fellowship Building. For more information, call 758-8088 or 341-3277 or e-mail ewspain@embarqmail.com.

Kiwanis Club schedules annual auction

The Greater Greenville Kiwanis Club will host its annual Christmas Auction at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Rock Springs Center. Proceeds will benefit local children's charities. Tickets are $35 each. Contact Lauren Asby by Nov. 9 at 526-1168 to purchase tickets.
