Sigma Phi Epsilon hosts blood drive
A blood drive is scheduled from 1-7 p.m. today at the Sigma Phi Epsilon House on East Fifth Street. In addition, the Eastern North Carolina Donor Center, 700 Cromwell Drive, will be open from 1-7 p.m.
Greenville mayor honors Indian heritage
Greenville Mayor Pat Dunn has proclaimed November as American Indian Heritage Month in Greenville in observance of the influence American Indians and indigenous peoples have had on the nation's history and culture. Native American Awareness Week began in 1976, and recognition was expanded by Congress and approved by President George H.W. Bush in August 1990, designating November as National American Indian Heritage Month.
Assistance offered in tent event
Take it to the Streets and the ZOE House and Restoration Christian Fellowship will hold a free Taking The Kingdom By Force event from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday in a tent at the corner of Dickinson Avenue and Raleigh Road. The events will assist those who have overcome homelessness or substance abuse. Food, assistance with completing employment applications or creating action plans and street survival kits will be offered.

Master gardeners to lead arboretum tour
Master gardeners will lead a tour of the wildflower seed collection at the Pitt County Arboretum at 10 a.m. Thursday at 403 Government Circle. Meet under the shelter in front of the agriculture building. For more information, call 902-1709.
Drive-in movie to be shown Friday
The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department will offer its first drive-in movie at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at H. Boyd Lee Park. Participants will be able to watch the outdoor movie's giant screen from their vehicles with the sound heard through each car's radio. “Secondhand Lions,” rated PG, will be shown. Honor society at ECU to hold used book sale
The Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society of East Carolina University will hold a used book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville Mall. Books will be available for $1 or less, and the group will offer demonstrations and participation sessions on a World War II naval combat simulation.
Proceeds will fund the presentation of student papers at the regional conference in March.
Pancake dinner to help girl scouts
The Winterville Kiwanis Club will host a pancake dinner to benefit the Girls Scouts from 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Kiwanis Building on Forlines Road. The cost will be $5 for all you can eat.
