Electric Membership Corp. to meet Thursday
Pitt and Greene Electric Membership Corp. (EMC) members will hold their 72nd annual meeting Thursday in the Farmville Central High School auditorium. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The business meeting starts at 6:30. Directors will be elected and reports on the operations of the cooperative will be made. Candlelight Alzheimer's event Thursday
The Benevolence Corps, in conjunction with the North Carolina Division of Aging, will hold its annual Candlelight Reflections event to honor and remember those affected by Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. Down East Holiday show benefits PCC students
The Pitt Community College Foundation will hold its 2009 Down East Holiday Show from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Greenville Convention Center.
The annual fundraiser features gift items from a variety of vendors. Tickets are $6 for ages 11 and older; children 10 and younger will be admitted free. Three-day passes are available for $12. Proceeds from the show will benefit PCC student scholarships and educational activities.
Army retirees to meet Saturday

FCA hosts fall fundraising banquet Tuesday
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes Eastern North Carolina will hold its fall fundraising banquet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Methodist Church Family Life Center. Fisher DeBerry, author and former football coach of the U.S. Air Force Academy, will speak.

Red Cross offers water safety instructor course
The Pitt County Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer a water safety instructor course on Nov. 11 and Nov. 13-15. The cost is $175 for the four days of classes. Participants must be 17 years of age by the last day of class. Participants must preregister and prepay.
