The Daily Reflector

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Beverly Monk Daniel of Durham recently was presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Signed by Gov. Beverly Perdue, the award is the highest honor given to a North Carolina citizen.

A native of Bell Arthur, Daniel retired as program administrator with the North Carolina Division of Social Services, Child Welfare Services Section after more than 34 years of service. She is the daughter of the late Virginia and Gaston Monk. Mr. Monk received the award in 2004 for his service in the field of education by then-Gov. Mike Easley.
