City Manager: Wayne Bowers, 329-4432. The city manager is the chief administrative officer for the city. The manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city and the implementation of the policies established by the elected officials. The city manager is appointed by the City Council.

Assistant City Manager: Thomas Moton Jr., 329-4430.

City Attorney: Dave Holec, 329-4426. The city attorney provides legal advice to the mayor, City Council, city manager, boards and commissions, and city departments, and represents the city in court cases. This office also handles citizen inquiries regarding city ordinances. The city attorney is appointed by the City Council.

City Clerk: Wanda Elks, 329-4422. The city clerk is the keeper of all records of the city including ordinances, resolutions, minutes of City Council meetings, annexations and other documents. The clerk's office also maintains a talent bank of citizen volunteers. The city clerk is appointed by the City Council.

Community Development: Merrill Flood, director, 329-4504. The department manages current and strategic planning through zoning/rezoning applications, environmental concerns, greenways development and historic preservation. The Housing Division administers the Affordable Housing, Elderly Rehabilitation and Down Payment Assistance programs.

Financial Services: Bernita Demery, director, 329-4443. The director of financial services is the chief financial officer for the City. This department is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of the city's income, expenses, and all financial transactions including accounting, revenue collection, debt management, financial reporting, and purchasing. This department also administers the Minority and Women's Business Enterprise Program for the City and Greenville Utilities. It has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, a national recognition, for 17 consecutive years.

Fire-Rescue: Chief Mike Burton, 329-4390. The department provides paramedic-level assistance to citizens from six stations. The department is staffed by professional career firefighters and emergency medical personnel. Every Greenville firefighter and fire officer is a state-certified emergency medical technician.

Human Resources: Gerry Case, director, 329-4492. The department keeps a listing of all job descriptions and vacancies, develops and implements employee training programs, administers employee benefits and coordinates the safety and risk management programs.

Information Technology: Rex Wilder, director, 329-4458. The department maintains and supports computer hardware and software for all city departments.

Police: Chief William J. Anderson, 329-4333. The department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency meeting the stringent standards of CALEA. It provides a full range of services addressing public safety and quality of life issues for citizens and visitors.

Public Works: Tom Tysinger, director, 329-4522. The department is responsible for traffic services, street maintenance, bus service, recycling and sanitation services, fleet management, engineering and the upkeep of city buildings, grounds and cemeteries. It also handles building permits and construction inspections.

Recreation and Parks: Boyd Lee, director, 329-4567. The department provides a variety of athletic, recreational and arts and crafts activities for all ages and special populations. It maintains 27 parks and recreational facilities, including five gymnasiums, seven recreational centers, two swimming pools, the Aquatics and Fitness Center and River Park North wildlife area.

Sheppard Memorial Library: Willie Nelms, director, 329-4580. 530 S. Evans St., Greenville, 27858. Web site: www.sheppardlibrary.org. This department provides free public library service to all Greenville and Pitt County residents through a main library, four branches and the Pitt County Bookmobile.

Public Information: Steve Hawley, 329-4131. The Public Information Office, which is part of the City Manager's Office, coordinates news releases; promotes city-sponsored events; produces city publications; manages the Government Access Channel, cable channel 9, and video productions of Greenville events, services and meetings; and coordinates the Greenville International Festival.
