Since I approach each issue of Her magazine with a spirit of adventure, I thought August was the perfect time to spotlight the daring exploits of the women of Pitt County. I had no idea so many local women were thrill-seekers who travel far and wide for adventures.
This issue is packed with their escapades: climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, zip-lining in the jungles of Belize, walking on Alaskan glaciers.
Readers' panelist Rexanne Harrison shares the story of her family's love affair with "The Dark Continent" of Africa, accompanied by incredible photos taken by her husband, Tom Harrison.
And in the cover story, Amanda Van Staalduinen relates her passion for deep-sea fishing — and how she encourages her friends to become Marlin Darlins and join her on the ocean in search of trophy fish.
Whatever your definition of adventure, I encourage you to go out there and just do it ... and share your photos with Her magazine!
Here's to adventure, wherever you may find it.
