Greenville City Councilman Calvin Mercer announced his intention to run for re-election this November through a postal mailing to voters and a news release Tuesday afternoon.
“I want to continue working to build quality into our growth, so that we can attract good companies and jobs to our city and enjoy a high quality of life,” he said in the release.
Mercer is in his fourth year serving District 4.

Vote them all out
I refuse to vote for any incumbent in the upcoming elections. Remember this is the city council who voted to pay for someone's legal expenses. Have any of them offered to pay your high taxes? Didn't think so!
VOTE THEM OUT!
too much tax money spent on
too much tax money spent on things members of the city council WANT that we do not NEED. WHERE IS THE GROUNDSWELL OF SUPPORT FOR THE ALL THESE UNNECESSARY PROJECTS THE CITY HAS SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON? can the citizens ever VOTE on these things before the council has us stuck with them? the council would fear a vote because the just isn't there.
Anybody but
Anybody but Mercer,Blackburn,Glover or Dunn! Parks, greenways, bus stations what a waste of money.
I appreciate
everyone who is willing to serve this city. However, I hope new people will step forward to serve. We need less talk and more action. I don't know of any "real" jobs that have come to our city in the last 3 years. I pay taxes for expenditures that I am against (movie theaters, science bldings). I am certainly worn out with monologues at council meetings. No one is willing to call for the question when needed. We have highly educated business oriented people in our community. Please offer your services to the voters. A very frustrated citizen
