The Greenville City Council rezoned 11.34 acres on the north side of East 10th Street/N.C. 33 to allow commercial development on Thursday night.

After brief debate over funding available for Sheppard Memorial Library and a west Greenville basketball complex, the council unanimously approved 2011-12 fiscal year budgets for the city, Greenville Utilities Commission, the library and the Pitt-Greenville Convention and Visitors Authority.

The balanced city budget totals $74.5 million plus individual enterprise funds totaling $27.3 million.

thank you mr mercer and mr

thank you mr mercer and mr blackburn--you must NOT go --you two are the only ones showing any common sense and thought to what this nc 33 area will look like in about 5 year.

Mercer & Blackburn Must Go!

Merecer said, "the future land use plan recommendation, which was approved by council..., was made to accommodate this specific “narrow interest” request." Actually, denial of this request would have been ignoring the needs and desires of the majority of Greenville Citizens for a small group of "narrow interest", over-priveleged citizens and Neighborhood Associations. Mercer and Blackburn must go! There only concern is TRUNA, and other small neighborhood groups who tout only their own personal interest while killing development and business in Greenville. We need to be pro-business instead of making businesses, both small and large, jump through multiple hoops to open and often times lead them elsewhere.
