Real property values in Pitt County dropped an average of 6.39 percent over the last four years, according to data released last week by the tax office.
Individual property owners will learn their property values when value notices are mailed on Tuesday, County Manager Scott Elliott said. The county originally planned to mail the notices on Monday, but the post office will be closed because of Presidents Day.
Pitt County’s real property, which is residential, commercial, industrial, office or agricultural land and permanent structures, is now valued at $8.9 billion, a $613 million drop.

*does this mean our property
*does this mean our property taxes will go DOWN?
Massive conflict of interest
What kind of nonsense is this?
The County does the revaluation , the county uses the revaluation to assess property taxes on its citizen's property?.
How does this make sense? If you are going to have a FAIR evaluation of property, should it not be an independent person , not the biased department that charges you a tax based upon their slanted "value" of properties.
Talk about a CONFLICT OF INTEREST..
What a bunch of pansies we the taxpayers are!!!
