District changes won't affect fire services

BETHEL — Proposed revisions to how Pitt County’s rural fire service is funded won’t alter the delivery or management of that protection, county officials said.

More than 40 people attended Tuesday’s public forum held at North Pitt High School on the proposed fire service districts.

Pitt County government is proposing revisions to its fire tax districts, which officials in several districts say will make every property owner in unincorporated rural Pitt County responsible for funding fire protection.
