The party faithful and political novices are at the center of three political events on Saturday.

The N.C. Republican First Congressional District and Pitt County Democratic Party are hosting a convention and rally, respectively. Joining in the political push is the “Greenville Votes Against” festival, an event featuring music and food at various Greenville locations, urging people to vote against Amendment One, which would define marriage being between a man and a woman.

The three groups selected Saturday because they were looking for a day that didn’t conflict with other events and because they wanted their message to remain in the minds of participants in the days leading to the May 8 primary.
