The state’s Republican-led legislature is focused on a far-right agenda that protects business interests and harms the state’s working population, advocates said in Greenville on Thursday night.

About 50 people from Greenville, Rocky Mount and New Bern turned out for the “Out of Control Tour,” a statewide series of meetings being held to discuss the actions of last year’s General Assembly. The group also talked about businessman Art Pope, who through numerous family groups funded many of the campaigns that allowed Republicans to take control of the Legislature in 2010.

In 2010, three out of every four outside dollars spent on Republican campaigns came from groups sponsored by members of Pope’s family, said Chris Kromm with the Institute for Southern Studies and Progress North Carolina.

Question

What do businesses need (other than customers) to be successful? Good employees. So if businesses thrive, then unemployment improves.

So if thriving businesses improves unemployment, how does this harm the "state's working population"?

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, is all we here from our Governor and the candidates, especially those running in the Democratic Primaries. Maybe all the Gubernatorial candidates should be required to take a 100 level Economics course at the local university! Then they may learn some of these simple basic economic theories.

State Agenda

It's about time some legislators paid attention to the citizens interest and concerns. They have been focused so much on how to deal with the worst recession since the 1920's, as are federal legislators, they have lost focus on the subject that counts the most to be successful, "THE CITIZENS". Thank you legislators and if there is any way you can get Purdue and Obama out faster please do it.
