Forum on area water supply set

A forum discussion on “Water, water everywhere but do we have enough here in eastern North Carolina” is planned at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Pitt County Agricultural Center, 403 Government Circle. Dr. Amy Blizzard, assistant professor of planning; Dr. Michael O’Driscoll, assistant professor of geology, and Dr. Richard Spruill, associate professor of geology, all of East Carolina University, will discuss challenges, the resources, and the planning required to allow sustainable development in the area. The event is sponsored by ECU, Cypress Sierra Group and Pamlico-Tar River Foundation.

 

Beautillion interest meeting rescheduled

An interest meeting for “Our Gems & Pearls,” a beautillion for males ages 13-18 and their female escorts, is planned at 3 p.m. on Feb. 7 in Room A at Sheppard Memorial Library. A&T to hold recruitment, admissions event

N.C. A&T State University of Greensboro will hold its annual Aggie Night at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the Hilton Greenville. The event focuses on recruitment and admissions, with counselors available to advise and /or admit students with applications, fees, transcripts and test scores. Film screening offered

The End of Life Care Coalition of Eastern North Carolina is partnering with the Bioethics Center at the Brody School of Medicine to offer a free film presentation at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 in the Monroe Center, 2000 Venture Tower Drive. “Marvin’s Room” with Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane Keaton and Robert De Niro will be shown, followed by a discussion of the film. Yard sale to benefit youth sports

Pitt County Community Schools and Recreation will hold an indoor yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon. on Feb. 27 at the Pitt County Recreation Complex to benefit youth sports. Call 902-1975 for more information.

 

Academy recital series set

The Music Academy of Eastern Carolina will present its First Friday Recital Series at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the academy. “Music for Romance” will be include performances by academy faculty, Paula Jenkins, piano; Lisa Ours, clarinet; Cheryl Stephenson, oboe; Danielle Eure, piano, and Michael Stephenson, saxophone. Open mic event to benefit Haiti

A Hope for Haiti fundraiser is planned from 7-11 p.m. on Saturday at the Tipsy Teapot, 409 S. Evans St. Artists are encouraged to perform open mic, including poetry, music, drama, jazz, dance, improv, etc. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit Haiti.
