A self-described “human garbage disposal” polished off plates of food in about 14 minutes, taking first place in a Sunday night eating contest at Christy’s Euro Pub benefiting the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.

“I’m still hungry,” said the winner, Nate Gwyn, a student at East Carolina University. “I could eat some more.”

The 6-foot-5-inch Gwyn weighs 170 pounds. He said friends challenged him to enter the contest since he’s known for cleaning the plates of his friends when they can’t finish.
