A Pitt County congressman is using old technology to pursue a new way of communicating with his constituents.
U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., R-N.C., conducted a town hall meeting by telephone Monday night. It’s the second session he has held using a formula that is increasingly popular with congressional members.
“What it is is a substitute for the newsletters congressmen are famous for sending out,” Glen Downs, Jones’ chief of staff, said. “It’s a lot less expensive, and people prefer the interactive format. People find them more meaningful.”
