Issues facing the Latino population, including new immigration legislation, will be the focus of a summit today.
The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina (AMEXCAN) and East Carolina University are hosting the third annual Latino Leadership Summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the East Carolina Heart Institute.
Juvencio Rocha Peralta, president of AMEXCAN, said the summit comes at a critical time as immigrants across the country are facing tougher state laws.
