Local residents join rally in Raleigh

More than 35 Pitt County residents and ECU students joined thousands of North Carolinians in Raleigh on Saturday to rally for progressive policies to improve education and combat poverty.

Thousands of marchers walked from Shaw University to the Legislative Building on Jones Street during the seventh annual Historic Thousands on Jones Street event.


Worried about actions of the Republican-controlled N.C. General Assembly, the marchers, members of civil rights and left-leaning groups, had a sense of urgency that left local participants energized.

*voter id will keep no one from voting---once. *there are rich folks and lesser income folks. most are where they are because of choices they made throuhout their life. preparing for and working can place you where you choose. *it isn't the responsibility of those who work to keep non-working folks in a house, in food , in clothing--even if the president does believe in wealth redistribution (giving stuff to folks who don't work while taking it from those who do). *the repub leadership is doing nothing against you. progressive/liberals/dems keep you where you are because they want to keep you depending on big gov. YOU DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IT--BUT IT'S TRUE.
