Pitt County Social Services staff continued their efforts last week to meet a Feb. 10 federal deadline to catch up with a growing backlog of applications for food and nutrition assistance, county human services division officials said.
“We’re really digging down into our data to use it as a flashlight to examine our practices, how long it’s taking us to process an application and what our organizational gaps are,” Margaret Dixon, the county’s service programs administrator, said.
N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Director Aldona Vos received a letter on Jan. 23 from the U.S. Agriculture Department’s regional food and nutrition services administrator, Robin Bailey, laying down the deadline to complete the NC FAST (North Carolina Families Accessing Services Through Technology) data entry and show results.
