Pitt County's 250th anniversary has passed but stories of the community's recent history are being preserved in a special book and DVD set produced to commemorate the semiquincentennial.
“The What's Your History? Project” features 17 essays and stories, photographs and newspaper clippings and videotaped interviews with 10 Pitt County residents. The 48-page book and three DVDs can be purchased separately or in a collection, said Kiara Jones, Pitt County's public information officer and project manager.
The project started when planners of the 250th anniversary commemoration wanted to involve Pitt County residents in the celebration.
