The Pitt County planning board recommended approving a request to add moving truck and trailer rentals to the usages allowed at an Old River Road self-storage facility.

The board's recommendation now goes to the Pitt County Board of Commissioners, which will hold a public hearing on the request on Aug. 22.

The owners of River Road Mini-Storage, 1401 Old River Road, want to rent moving vehicles at their location. They need conditional-use approval every time they make an adjustment to the property's usage because general commercial uses are not part of the agricultural/open/natural resources designation of the area where the business is located.
