One man remained in critical condition Tuesday and another was treated and released from Pitt County Memorial Hospital following an incident Sunday in Farmville in which one man was shot and the other stabbed, according to Farmville Police Chief Donnie Greene.

Fire-Rescue recruits
push truck for charity

Greenville Fire-Rescue recruits push a 40,000-pound fire truck around East Carolina University's Belk Building on Saturday morning, as a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. The event ended up raising more than $1,000.

Firefighters are known to push themselves to the limits to save lives and property.

On Saturday, that philosophy was put to the test.
