Man knifed during assault

A 36-year-old man had serious lacerations after he was assaulted with a knife early Saturday morning at his Gardenia Street home by an acquaintance, according to a Pitt County Sheriff's Office report.

There was no record of his current condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Wallace Harold Strother, 54, 1960 Pactolus Highway, was arrested two hours later and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
