A scheduled vote by The Pitt County Board of Education to draw new attendance lines Monday is set against decades of perceived inequities, officials said.

In addition to accommodating recent population growth and facility changes, this reassignment also is part of the district's effort to achieve unitary status, or the official elimination of the vestiges of dual system segregation. We want them to not to

We want them to not to reshuffle at this time unnecessarily, improve whatever minimal gains they have made in the schools as they stand today to get out from under these court orders by attaining unitary status. Then they will have the luxury of redistricting without the fear of being taken to court each time redistricting comes up.

What does the Greenville Parent Assoc. want?

Isn't Reep suggesting the map with neighborhood schools? It seems to me that you would want to go to a school with the people you live near.
