The Magnolia Arts Center organization is looking for anyone with “time, talents and interest.” Money would be nice, too.

A group of close to 30 stakeholders — primarily artists, arts groups and downtown business owners — gathered Tuesday evening at the Emerge Art Gallery for a brief presentation on efforts to renovate a vacant Fifth Street theater.

The city's redevelopment commission purchased the theater in December 2008 with revitalization bond funds. It will take close to $3 million to transform the vacant, deteriorating interior into a multipurpose, functioning venue. That includes renovations and equipment needed for operations.

agree that this project will

agree that this project will be patronized by a select few in greenville and wish that no more city taxes be spent on this project. remember--grants are only taxes or money from special interest groups that expect something in return. Given the state of the economy one must remember that this artsy thing is on the bottom of a list of real needs.

bike paths also for only a select few who might brave them and also a huge burden of guilt for the car driver who runs over the first child. roads are meant for cars--not bicycles. where is the groundswell of people begging for these bike trails?

Please Lord, no more tax

Please Lord, no more tax money given for fru-fru projects. Can't we address some more important needs in this community. So we cut the public library but build an extravagant arty center which will benefit only a few already well-to-do people. I guess the theory is they provide most of the tax money so that they should get some benefit.

"Oh well, pass me a wine spritzer, Dahling. Wasn't that so divine/ She has so much talent. She should have a wider audience. What talent we have here, Dahling. Oh, you look lovely. Have you lost weight? And your hair, Dahling, you look just like Julia Roberts."

$380,000 now down this rathole

With another 80,000 dollars of taxpayer money going down this rathole
you would think there would be a public uproar but no

The public just sits back on their chair and gets taken to the cleaners

ABSOLUTELY NO MORE BOND ISSUES

City management cannot be trusted to spend money properly
