DANCING STARS: Vote for your favorite PCC couple

Six teams took to the dance floor March 20 to compete and raise money for scholarships, and you can still vote for the team you like best.

The second Dancing with the PCC Stars was held at the Greenville Convention Center to benefit the Pitt Community College Foundation.

The team of Kellie Brown and Joey Cuellar won the judges’ choice award at the show for dancing the jive to Elvis’ “Blue Suede Shoes.” Audience members also were able to vote for the couple they liked best and that voting will continue through March 31 at www.pccdancingstars.com.

All votes cast will provide funds to support students in their educational pursuits, the college said. The website features a video of each performance and background about the dancers, community members who volunteered their time and talent. Each vote cost $10 and the winners will be announced April 2.

The other dancers include Anna Bulszewicz and Les Still, Sarah Hall and Rob Hall, Natalie Sayewich and Nathan Summers, Ashley-Nicole Russell and Mitch W. Butts and Chikako Massey and Mike Mancuso.

The event also featured a raffle and an auction. The auction raised more than $6,000 and the raffle tickets sold out, according to PCC Development Director Lynne James.

PCC’s Bruiser the Bulldog also won a surprise dance-off with East Carolina University’s PeeDee the Pirate after all the couples competed.

Folks also can see the dancers by tuning into WCTI-12 and Fox Eastern Carolina on March 29 at 7 p.m., WITN2 MyTV March 29 at 7:30 p.m., Cable Channel 7 on March 29 at 10 a.m., GPAT 23 Friday at 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and March 31 at 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Last year’s event raised about $30,000 and James said the college hopes to exceed that amount this year.
