A pollution advisory will be in effect Wednesday for Greenville and neighboring communities as shifting winds carry smoke west from a Dare County wildfire.
Residents from mainland Dare County to Washington, Greenville, Kinston, New Bern, Goldsboro, Wilson, Rocky Mount and Tarboro could experience unhealthy air quality, according to the N.C. Division of Air Quality.
Children, the elderly and people with heart and respiratory illnesses are advised to stay inside, especially if smoke is visible or can be smelled.
