RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's capital city has set a dress code for cab drivers.
The News&Observer of Raleigh reported Wednesday that the city council banned cab drivers from wearing short shorts, miniskirts, tank-tops and flip-flops as part of an extensive overhaul of the city's regulations of taxi companies.
The rules also forbids cars more than 10 years old from being used as cabs, raises application fees and allows the city to deny a permit to applicants with a felony, alcohol or drug conviction.
The council initially approved a provision that would have allowed city staff to deny permits to applicants who weren't U.S. citizens, but deleted that clause during a Tuesday vote.
The new rules go into effect Sunday.

If they did not allow non-citizens to drive a cab, there would not be any cabs on the road in Raleigh.

Being a non US citizen does not necessarily equate to being an illegal. There are legal ways to live and work in the US, as well as other countries, without being a citizen of said country. Perhaps you are too quick to blame illegals for our many cultural, social or economic problems.

the last cab i took in raleigh didn't even have a dashboard for crying out loud. regulate the condition and safety of the vehicle, not the year of it.

They should have kept the provision to deny permits to non US citizens. Illegals should be treated as illegals.
