Along with designing a new brand for the city, a market research firm from Nashville, Tenn., promised this week to compile a list of the top 100 companies that could “make sense” in Greenville.

The recruitment tool is seen as the pinnacle of three months of research that North Star will conduct on Greenville and places with comparable labor forces to help figure out how to sell the city as an economic powerhouse.

The data-gathering started on Monday, when four North Star executives landed in Pitt County to take a three-day tour of Greenville and meet with city, industry, education and tourism leaders to understand what makes the municipality attractive to business.

So tell us how much our Tax Dollars are paying to this firm

Sorry but the money our city pays out for things I and other citizens don't believe are prudent. Example, years ago our city paid a firm to go around and check the traffic flow and lights and how they affected traffic. Duh. we all knew the timing of lights was off, and trust me as a consultant in another area, I would have charged you much less and told you it is bad. Basically that is what they did, and can tell you personally sitting at lights to get across town then and now and to airport, nothing changed. So we are going to do the same now with a firm to tell us how to promote our city. Geez what is up with our management of city as we have lost industries over the years so you really think this will help? Just want to know how much you are spending of the citizen tax payer money for this marketing firm. Be honest and fess up
