Larry Cuthbertson said that there is something about an artificial Christmas tree that strikes him as “un-American.”
“A fake tree is very plastic, very commercial, very China,” said Cuthbertson, owner and operator of Mountain Boy Trees who said his Christmas tree lot at Overton’s on Evans Street is one of the biggest on the East Coast. “Having a fake tree at Christmas is like having a Santa Claus without the beard.
“It doesn’t feel like Christmas, and it certainly doesn’t smell like Christmas.”
