For the third-straight year and the fifth time in its 13 years as a league member, East Carolina had two student-athletes named Conference USA Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year in their respective sports on Wednesday.
Jill Jelnick (softball) and Brooke Kott (cross country) were recognized by Commissioner Britton Banowsky for their academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.
Jelnick, who received the honor last year, maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average as an English major during her four years. Kott, who enjoyed her best season as a senior, posted a 3.61 undergraduate grade point average as a math education major and a 3.66 GPA as a graduate student.
