A bill that would reduce the size of the Pitt County Board of Education remains on the House floor after an objection was raised preventing a final vote Wednesday afternoon.
Rep. Stephen LaRoque, R-Lenoir, made the objection without comment after the bill was approved 71-46 following the second reading before the full House.
Under House rules, LaRoque's objection forces a day-long delay in the final vote.

It all comes down to who
It all comes down to who should be in charge of Pitt County Schools: The School Board or the Chamber of Commerce.
If the Chamber of Commerce is to be in charge then should not the citizens require that the board members of the Chamber be elected by the voters? I think it is only fair.
If we let the Chamber take over the school board then can we have the Chamber take over the County Commissioners and the City Council. Think of the money we could save by allowing the Chamber to run the schools, the county and the city. Then let the Chamber pick out state representatives to the General Assembly. It will probably take some fancy footwork for the Chamber to be able to pick our representative to the United States Congress.......but I would not put it pass them.
Will the Chamber be the leader of the new world order?
P.S. What is the Chamber position on the moment of silence? Tithing? A daily multi-vitamin?
