Casey Sokolovic is one smart cookie.

At 12, the Winterville girl has started her own conservation campaign and has completed an internship alongside scientists at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.

Earlier this week, Casey was among 200 students nationwide to be named winners in the Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program. She was selected from among more than 27,000 nominees across the country to receive a $1,000 scholarship rewarded based on initiative, creativity, leadership and generosity.
