East Carolina football coach Ruffin McNeill announced Tuesday that wide receiver Michael Bowman and cornerback Emanuel Davis will be suspended for the season opener against South Carolina in Charlotte on Sept. 3 as a result of the pair being arrested early Saturday morning.
Bowman and Davis also are required to conduct 25 hours of documented community service in addition to regularly-scheduled time through ECU’s Student Development Office and any possible court sentence. McNeill also indicated Bowman and Davis will write formal letters of apology to all law enforcement personnel involved in the incident.

What?
First off, resisting an officer is something the PD tack on to a weak reason for arrest. It is not easy for anyone to follow exact orders being shouted by police officers over the melee downtown and if you don't completly submit to them, they will use force, which most of the time leads to some sort of altercation, which is then called "resisting". I've seen it multiple times as I've qrown up in Greenville.
Kick them off the team because they were drunk in college... Oh my gosh, college-aged men were drinking more than they probably should have... Stop the presses, please kick these horrible men off the team and get them out of Greenville where we are all tea-tottaler's. Maybe we could give them a Scarlet Letter on their forehead so everyone will know that in college, they made a bad choice.
Its unfortuanate that they will miss a huge game(which they will not forget), but I personally root for them to succeed with the rest of the college career, in both sports and academics.

This is really gonna hurt those thugs isn't it? Oh yeah, they'll really think twice before they do something like this again. Hope you sent them to their rooms with no XBox. Coach McNeill you are a wimp. Sorry drunk in town, resisting arrest, and assault on police officer. Huummm, if it were an every day citizen they would be under the jail. Doing community service is fine, but they hold no right to continue to be on the ECU team. Sorry represent the university and the football team, which they obviously did not do very well that night. Kick them out, be a MAN Ruffin McNeill do the right thing for morality, not your frickin upcoming season. They are scum, not just a one time mistake, I assure you. Get a life ECU sports program and Chancellor. Kick the jerks off the team, then see if they can handle staying to complete the academics. Geez you folks are such a joke and assinine with this situation. Thought athletes were not allowed to drink, oh guess ok if between seasons and don't cause an issue. NOT...kick them off the team!

Kick them off the team, cause they were drunk, abused authority, resisted arrest, and what ever else. Now you say it's ok cause they will do a little community service (sure it's because athletes, better yet football player). Who cares, kick their ass off the team. See if they can hang and finish degree without being the "chosen football player" . Answer, NOT they will be gone, but we hide behind athletics and give them the look of the other way.
