Miss Brittany Lynn McGrath and Mr. Joshua Glenn Richardson were united in marriage at five o’clock in the evening on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at the Ayden Christian Church in Ayden. Following the ceremony was an outdoor reception with dinner and dancing held at the Richardson residence in Ayden. Pastor Robert Michael Goff officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father and given by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Eugene McGrath of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Joly Suzanne Bixler, the late Mr. William John Knieper Jr., the late Mrs. Carolyn Runyan Davis, and the late Mr. Robert McGrath, all of Indianapolis, Ind.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Royce Erwin Richardson, junior of Ayden. He is the grandson of Mr. Royce Erwin Richardson of Ayden and late Mrs. Merle Stokes Richardson, and Mr. and Mrs. D. Glenn Bowen Jr. of Ayden. He is the great grandson of Mrs. Mildred Haddock of Grimesland.
Miss Nicole Lee McGrath, sister of the bride, of Goldsboro served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Lindsey Gray Richardson, sister of the groom, of Ayden, Miss Kourtney Maria Knieper and Miss Kellie Joan Knieper, cousins of the bride, of Carmel, Ind., Miss Suzanne Marie Oakley, cousin of the groom, of Ayden, Miss Kimberly Morgan Lane of Goldsboro, and Sarah Jones Miller, of Hookerton. Flower girl was Macy Raine Speight of Ayden.
Mr. Royce Erwin Richardson, junior served as best man. Groomsmen were Johnny Bowen Oakley of Ayden and Colt Haddock Page of Winterville, cousins of groom, John Justin Jenkins, of Ayden, Dustin Ryan Becton, of Kinston, and Daniel Carroll Miller, of Hookerton. Ring Bearer was Elijah John Oakley of Ayden.
The bride and groom were honored with a wedding shower hosted by Ayden Christian Church, a Celebrating Home Shower hosted by Mrs. Karen Oakley and a Bridal Luncheon hosted by Mrs. Susan Hamm, Mrs. Cindy Rhue and Mrs. Tena Hardee held at the Hardee home.
The bride is a 2010 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science of Nursing. She is employed as a cardiac nurse at the East Carolina Heart Institute of Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The groom received two Associate Degrees from Pitt Community
College and is a 2010 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. He is currently the buyer, merchandiser and co-manager at his family-owned business, Colt’s Guns in Winterville. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Playa Del Carmen in the Caribbean. Their home is in Ayden.
