Diane Marie Dorney of Greenville and William (Bill) Henry Hayes of Mt. Airy were united in marriage on December 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy. The Rev. J. R. Nations presided over the small, family-centered ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the late Robert Dorney, originally of Yonkers, N.Y., and Dina Partenza Dorney, originally of Eastchester, N.Y. The groom is the son of Clyde and Vicky Hayes of Mt. Airy.
The bride was escorted by her brother-in-law, Sam Constantino, of Raleigh. Mr. Clyde Hayes, father of the groom, served as best man. Mr. James Partenza, of Westminster, Md., escorted the mother of the bride. Mrs. Kathy Constantino, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaid and niece of the groom, Ms. Hannah Button, junior bridesmaid and niece of the bride, Ms. Jenna Constantino, and flower girls, Ms. Alma Partenza (cousin of the bride) and Ms. Julia Constantino (niece of the bride) completed the bridal party. The readers were Mr. Garrett Partenza, Mr. Dimitri Partenza, and Mr. Robert Partenza of Westminster, Md., all cousins of the bride.
The wedding was directed by Ms. Gina Button, niece of the groom. Church bells were rung by sister of the groom Ms. Linda Jones, and music was provided by organist Mr. Jerry Venable.
A seated dinner reception was held at Trio Restaurant in Mt. Airy. The bride and groom were whisked away in an old-timey Andy Griffith sheriff’s mobile and had a mini-honeymoon in Harkers Island. Later in the spring they plan an extended honeymoon to Italy and Ireland. The newlywed couple are making their home on Thunder Mountain in Efland, with their four lovable dogs, Bonnie, Dottie, Gemma, and Mr. Russell. The bride is the director of scholar advising with the Morehead-Cain Foundation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The groom is the president and founder of Figure 8 Films of Carrboro, NC.
