Margaret Elizabeth Brooks and Lawrence Russell Duke of Raleigh, were married May 18, 2013 at 4 p.m. at St. David’s School Chapel in Raleigh. The Rev. Patrick Dominguez officiated. A reception followed at Prestonwood Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jasper Brooks Jr. of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Pope McCorkle, Jr. of Raleigh and the late Pope McCorkle, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jasper Brooks of Wilmington. She is a graduate of Saint Mary’s School and Davidson College.
The groom is the son of The Honorable and Mrs. Wilton Russell Duke, Jr. of Greenville. He is the grandson of Mrs. Wilton Russell Duke of Farmville, and the late Mr. Wilton Russell Duke and the late Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Lawrence Davis, Jr. of Winston-Salem. He is a graduate of Trinity-Pawling High School and Wake Forest University.
The maid of honor was Emily McLean Brooks of Raleigh, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jessica Thompson Donohue of Raleigh, Jessica Coe Duke of Greensboro, sister-in-law of the groom, Ashley Williams Gale of Fredericksburg, VA, Anna Macon Knott of Raleigh, Megan Qualey Meinen of Burlington, VT, Ashley Jane Raba of Alexandria, VA, Katherine Duke Teague of Raleigh, sister of the groom, and Anne Hourigan Womack of Mountain Brook, AL. The flower girl was Katherine Clare Duke of Greensboro, niece of the groom.
The best man was Wilton Russell Duke, Jr. of Greenville, father of the groom. Groomsmen were William Griffin Duke of Greensboro, brother of the groom, Henry Duke Edwards of Farmville, cousin of the groom, Edward Whitaker Grannis III of Fayetteville, Charles Little McBryde Grannis of Fayetteville, Thomas Jerome Herr, Jr. of Downers Grove, IL, William Jesse Teague, Jr. of Raleigh, brother-in-law of the groom, Frederick Watson Vaughan of New York City, and Mark Andrew Williams of Winston-Salem. The ushers were Pope McCorkle IV and Lewis Johnson McCorkle, both of New York City, and cousins of the bride. The ring bearer was William Russell Teague of Raleigh, nephew of the groom.
The couple will reside in Raleigh, where they both attend Campbell Law School.
