Mary Whitaker Cottrell and Robert Raymond Hilgoe were united in marriage on August 13, 2011 at 5 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church, Oxford. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Terry Howard. The bride was escorted by and given in marriage by her father.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Timothy Cottrell of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adkins Dillehay, and Mr. Wallace Cottrell and the late Becky Cottrell, all of Oxford.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert John Hilgoe of Greenville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Morrison and the late Margaret Morrison, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raymond Hilgoe, all of Greenville.
Miss Elizabeth Ann Cross was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Meredith Dillehay Butler, Mrs. Mandi Sharp Cottrell, Miss Megan Daniel Currin, Miss Mary Claire Daniel, Miss Jenna Lee Hilgoe, Mrs. Mary Lanier Dillehay Stepp, and Mrs. Katherine Dillehay Westmoreland.
Mr. Hilgoe, father of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Wallace Timothy Cottrell II, Mr. William Adkins Cottrell, Mr. Shawn Paul Gordon, Mr. John Scott Hilgoe, Mr. Matthew Scott Howard, Mr. Jason Michael Powers, and Mr. Kevin Dean Williams.
A reception dinner and dance followed at the Henderson Country Club, Henderson. The parents of the groom hosted an after rehearsal dinner and dance at the Thorndale Country Club in Oxford.
The bride attended Peace College and graduated from East Carolina University. She is employed with Wake County Schools.
The groom graduated from East Carolina University, and is a construction superintendent with MI Homes in Raleigh.
Since a honeymoon to St. Lucia in the eastern Caribbean, they have made their home in Raleigh.
