Taylor Suzanne Flowers and Bradford Thomas Bowen were united in marriage at half after four in the afternoon on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Northwest Christian Church, Kinston. The Rev. Richard Thomas Vernon officiated the double-ring ceremony. Escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Warren Askew of Greenville and Mr. Carlton Neal Flowers of Trenton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis Gray, Jr. of Kinston, Mrs. Hilda Pollock Flowers and the late Mr. Winfield Carl Flowers, Jr. of Trenton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Thomas Bowen of Winterville. He is the grandson of Mrs. Dorothy Davenport Dail and the late Mr. Jack Jolly Dail, Sr. of Winterville, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Thomas Bowen of Greenville. Miss Allyson Lake Flowers, sister of the bride, of Greenville served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kathryn Daniels Beddard and Miss Brittany Elizabeth Bowen, sister of the groom, both of Winterville, Miss Melissa Ellen Hamm of Pittsboro, Mrs. Stacey Edwards Meeks of Greenville, Mrs. Elizabeth Liles Radford of Wilson, Miss Jessica Elaine Sutton of Raleigh, and Miss Lesley Vann Warren, cousin of the bride, of Wilmington. Mr. Michael Thomas Bowen served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Mr. James Bryant Beddard and Mr. Johnathan Neal Flowers, brother of the bride, both of Winterville, Mr. Bryan Edward Meeks of Greenville, Mr. Stephen Bryan Radford of Wilson, Mr. Joshua Wayne Seymour of Greenville, and Mr. Joseph Andrew Skinner of Grimesland. Ushers were Mr. Joseph Warren Askew of Greenville, Mr. Grayson Brian Hussey and Mr. Lane Thomas Hussey, cousins of the bride, of Kinston. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Mary Fletcher Jones, organist, of Kinston and Miss Briley Virginia Hussey, cousin of the bride, vocalist, of Kinston. Mrs. Lindsay Warren Campbell, cousin of the bride, of Cary presided at the guest register. Mrs. Michelle Moye Basden of Trenton and Miss Kristi Nicole Strawbridge of New Bern, cousins of the bride, were program attendants. Mrs. Maudith Wooten Elam of New Bern directed the wedding. Greeters were Ms. Pamela Gay Griffin, Ms. Annette Daughety McDaniel and Ms. Sandra Meadows Sutton all of Kinston. Following the ceremony, a reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the Community Council for the Arts, Kinston. Music was provided by Jupiter Jones of Greenville. The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at Rock Springs Center, Greenville. March 5, a “Pig Pick’n” announcing the couple’s engagement was given by the bride’s family, at the home of the bride’s father. March 26, a “Kitchen and Recipe Brunch” was given by Lindsay Campbell, Laura Edwards, Sarah Edwards, Briley Hussey, and Lesley Warren at the home of Briley Hussey. April 16, a “Monogram Shower” was given by Katie Beddard, Melissa Hamm, Stacey Meeks, Elizabeth Radford, and Jessica Sutton at the home of Elizabeth Radford. April 30, a “Home and Garden Shower” was given by Michelle Basden, Hilda Flowers, Annette McDaniel, Rose Ross, and Kristi Strawbridge at the home of Hilda Flowers. May 21, a “Couple’s Shower and Supper” was given by Maudith and Tommy Elam, Pam Griffin, Terry and Dennis Liles, and Sandra Sutton at the City Club, Snow Hill. June 2-5, a “Bachelor Weekend” was given for the groom by Bryant Beddard, Johnathan Flowers, Bryan Meeks, and Bryan Radford in Las Vegas, Nev. June 11-12, a “Girls’ Beach Weekend” was given by Allyson Lake Flowers in Atlantic Beach. June 24-26, a “Bachelorette Weekend” was given for the bride by Katie Beddard, Melissa Hamm, Stacey Meeks, Elizabeth Radford, Jessica Sutton, and Lesley Warren in Savannah, Ga. July 8, a “Bridal Luncheon” was given by Allyson Edwards, Alice Jean Gray, Johni Hussey, and Gail Warren at The WareHouse Restaurant, Winterville. Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple will make their home in Ayden.
